On May 21, 2024, Hiroshima Prefecture announced the start of applications for the FY2024 Hiroshima Prefecture Subsidy for Research and Development Support for Carbon Recycling Related Technologies during the Governor’s regular press conference. In this announcement, our company’s activities were also introduced.

Hiroshima Prefecture has been working since FY2022 to develop carbon recycling into one of the pillars of its industry by promoting industry-academia-government collaboration and the accumulation of research activities, aiming for achievement by 2050.

With the use of this support subsidy, we conducted a cultivation test of the microalgae Galdieria in collaboration with Mitsui Mining’s Takehara Smelting Plant, using boiler flue gas directly. We recently issued a press release on the success of this effort.

Following the success of the experiment, we will continue our efforts towards practical large-scale cultivation and further utilize this technology to conduct research and development, not only for carbon dioxide but also for the recovery of trace precious metals in wastewater.
